Nominations for Board of Directors
- Robert GuerreroI am Robert Guerrero and I am currently on the Whisperwood HOA Board. My wife and I have lived in Whisperwood for almost four (4) years and find Whisperwood a great place to live in. I am a retired school teacher/administrator from LISD. My experiences in working with budgets, staffing, and the school communities (parents, student, and businesses) allow me to utilize those experiences to serve Whisperwood community members. I believe I can contribute in a positive and productive manner to maintain and adhere to the Whisperwood HOA by-laws and policies so that our neighborhood’s governing is meeting our concerns and needs. I would appreciate your consideration on my nomination for the Whisperwood HOA Board of Directors.
Thank you.
- Priscilla ElliottI have proudly served on the Whisperwood Homeowners Association (WHOA) Board for many years in various capacities, including Secretary, Treasurer, and now as Member at Large. During this time, I’ve gained valuable insights into the needs and concerns of our community. My experience working at the pool for several years allowed me to connect with many members and develop strong relationships within the neighborhood.
As a trusted point of contact, I regularly field calls from members, addressing both complaints and compliments with care and dedication. Known for being trustworthy, dependable, and stable, I am committed to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in Whisperwood.
My late husband, Bob and I, built our home here in 2000 and I have remained deeply invested in the success and harmony of our quality of life in Whisperwood community ever since.
Thank You. - Rehj HoeffnerHi! My name is Rehj Hoeffner. As current board member serving as Secretary/Treasurer, a long-time property owner and community advocate, I’m excited to express my continued interest in serving on the Whisperwood Homeowners Association Board. With over 20 years of direct investment in this community and a strong background in governance, I bring the experience and dedication needed to help drive the continued success of our neighborhood.
I own seven properties within Whisperwood, and my commitment to this community runs deep. Over the past two decades, I’ve actively participated in its growth, and I’m passionate about ensuring it remains a vibrant and desirable place to live. My roots here are strong—at one point, my entire family lived on N. Troy Ave. My son and daughter were my neighbors, and my mother lived just two doors down. My husband and I have loved and invested in this neighborhood for years, and that won’t change!
Professionally, I’ve worn many hats. From my early days interning at a local CPA firm to becoming Finance Director for a major Caterpillar supplier in Lubbock, I’ve honed a deep understanding of financial management. Later, as HR Director for Valmont Industries, I gained critical skills in leadership and operations. After some time raising my family and running a successful home based business, I returned to school for a BA in Digital Communications and Graphic Design—a passion that complements my business experience. For the past several years, I’ve managed properties within Whisperwood, blending my professional expertise with a good understanding of our local community.
My experience as a school board member in Roswell, New Mexico, has equipped me with the governance, budgeting, and community engagement skills needed to be an effective HOA board member. I know how to navigate complex issues, listen to diverse voices, and make decisions that balance both short-term needs and long-term growth.
If elected for the HOA board, I will focus on transparency, open communication, and ensuring that all residents have a voice. My priorities include enhancing our community amenities and managing resources wisely to keep Whisperwood financially stable and thriving.
I’m ready to work, listen, and help shape the future of our wonderful neighborhood! Thank you for your consideration,
Rehj Hoeffner - Bryan FoleyAfter serving in the military, being from Littlefield, I chose to move to Lubbock in 1999. Driving by Whisperwood frequently, I always had an interest in living in the Whisperwood neighborhood. The long boulevard filled with trees and greenery looked picturesque. At the end of the boulevard stood a club-like pool and tennis courts. The draw from this view led us to move our family to Whisperwood in 2021.
As members of his community, my wife and I began attending meetings and meeting neighbors. Through these connections, we began hearing similar concerns from the community. To address our community’s concerns, we involved ourselves in improving communications, pool relations, community involvement and promoting fairness in addressing issues and governance. We are a community, and everyone matters.
As the President of the Pool Committee, I assisted in extended pool hours and presented the necessity for the upcoming renovations. As a Member of the Neighborhood Committee, I have encouraged community engagement. And, as an Admin for the neighborhood’s Facebook page, I have helped improve communication. I have actively put in the personal time and work into our community when it was needed.
My military experience allowed me to travel the world where I was exposed to diverse people and their cultures. This allowed me the uncommon opportunity to develop communication skills and a broader sense of understanding for other’s unique points of view. I pride myself on being able to view situations with neutrality and an unbiased, fair understanding.
I received Bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Business Economics from Texas Tech University and have worked in business analytics for 15 years. My concentrations are in statistical reporting, contract review, revenue and expense analytics, and budgeting. I prepare financial proformas for large equipment purchases and the expansion (or reduction) of service lines such as Covenant’s second robotic surgical system (Da Vinci), the opening of Covenant’s Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (the first unit between Denver and Forth Worth) and the Lubbock Heart Hospital’s robotic knee replacement system. I’ve also prepared detailed budgets for these health systems, including each individual business, service line, department and general ledger line, for a decade. My background with contract review has helped tremendously with navigating our own community’s by-laws and applicable state law.
My experience and dedication to the community would be advantageous to the Whisperwood HOA board. My goals are to renovate and improve the HOA recreational facilities, improve transparency and communication, promote open dialogue and discussion, ensure fair and reasonable policy, and maintain a financially stable organization. Without being a board member, I feel like I’ve made positive changes. I can only hope that being a board member will allow me a greater opportunity to service this community on a grander scale.
- Randal HamiltonThe first time I submitted my interest in serving the community as a member of the board was in April 2023. I was given that opportunity when I was appointed to the board in the fall of 2023. Once the board was reconstituted the board members elected me to serve as President of the Whisperwood Home Owner’s Association. I have served on many boards throughout my career. In addition to my Whisperwood Board responsibilities, I currently serve as an elected corporate board of the 2nd largest Farm Mutual insurance company representing policyholders in the Texas panhandle. Board operations can stay on track as long as the Board operates with its fiduciary responsibilities as guiding principles. These 4 principles are duty to: loyalty, care, prudence and confidentiality.
- Marnee BolenMy name is Marnee Gamble Bolen and while I have only lived in the neighborhood for 3 years, my family owned the home I currently live in for the prior 10 years. When I moved back to Lubbock from Austin in 2021, my first choice was to move to Whisperwood. Ironically, I moved twice in 2021 – into a rental at the end of my block and then three months later, into my current home 5 houses down.
I would like to be considered for a board member on the Whisperwood HOA Board. I believe that my education and experience provide a strong foundation for consideration. I received my BBA, with a concentration in Marketing, from McMurry University in 1990. Since then I have worked for a professional football team as a marketing assistant, Texas House of Representatives as a Sergent and receptionist for the Speaker of the House Gib Lewis, the second largest wholesale food distributor – US Foodservice – as marketing assistant and food show coordinator, an environmental engineering firm – Signature Science, LLC – as HR manager and project manager managing multi-million dollar governmental contracts, and for the last 20 years I have been a paralegal. In 2016 I became board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and am currently the District 7 Director for the Paralegal Division Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas. I specialize in high-end divorces and the division of complex, multi-million dollar business estates.
As a fourth generation Lubbockite, my roots in Lubbock run deep! My great-grandfather, grandfather and father owned Gamble Oil until my grandfather passed away in the mid 1990’s. My mother was a successful businesswomen and philanthropist. In addition to the oil business, my father also owned several successful nightclubs. Growing up in Lubbock, I watched our beautiful little neighborhood grow from a cotton field into what it is today and love my home, my neighbors and our neighborhood.
I served on the Pool Committee this summer and learned so much about the required maintenance and costs associated with running a pool, and took great pride in keeping it clean and accessible to Whisperwood residents.
There were some hiccups (please note that the Board mandated the Release, not the Committee, but the Committee was required to facilitate the signing of the release), but we are on a good trajectory and I would like to see residents continue to benefit from the repairs and improvements going into next season.I am currently serving as a Member-at-Large of the Whisperwood HOA Board and believe that we are setting a good path for moving forward. I would like to continue working toward “righting the ship” for our HOA to be successful for years to come.
I believe that my education, professional experience, and dedication to our neighborhood make me a strong candidate for a board member. If selected, I will focus on representing the homeowners’ voices and be a conservative fiduciary of HOA member funds. There is work to be done, both in the management of our Board and in the pending repairs and continued management of our only asset – our pool – and I look forward to working diligently with transparency for a successful outcome of both.
