  • RANDAL HAMILTON
Hello, I’m Randall Hamilton, and since August 2022, my wife LaDonna and I have proudly called 107 N. Vicksburg home. After living in Lubbock since 1997, we made the move from Levelland to settle into our semi-retirement in Whisperwood, a community we chose to enjoy the next chapter of our lives.

With extensive experience serving on multiple boards, I currently hold an elected position as a Director on the corporate board of Hochheim Prairie Farm Mutual, where I’ve earned the FMDC certification through the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. In this role, I’ve seen firsthand the value of adopting a Governance Policy, which outlines how a board should operate and conduct business with clarity and consistency.

For instance, our current bylaws are silent on key details like the term length for directors. A well-crafted governance policy could define these terms and set guidelines that protect the association from complete turnover every year while ensuring stability. While such a policy wouldn’t override the bylaws, it could certainly clarify them and resolve some of the confusion we’ve seen in recent meetings.

I am interested in being considered for one of the open board positions on the Whisperwood HOA board, I would like to formally nominate myself for the position. As someone who plans to live long in this neighborhood, utilize the community pool, and foster strong relationships with my neighbors, I have a vested interest in serving the community with a board that is dedicated to clear, purposeful governance.

  • MARY TOLAR
I am a physician at Covenant Medical Group. I have a new position that provides more free time to attend community meetings than in past years. I am a mother of 2, soon to be 3. Notably, I have a wonderful support network that enables me to be free for impromptu obligations outside of my family. My education and career as a physician has prompted me to develop clear public speaking skills, direct and compassionate communication techniques, an ability to de-escalate intense situations, substantial executive planning skills, and an expansive love for my community and the people around me. I take pride in conducting all of my work with ethical integrity. I enjoy gardening to make the community beautiful, bringing people together, and being creative. I own two houses in the neighborhood. I am inclined toward personal study, research and the betterment of my environment through action. I am a member of the social committee which has successfully brought the community together for many events since its inception.

I think I would be a great addition to the WHOA Board as I represent a voice for the needs of young families in our community, and people with busy work lives. I am dedicated in my professional and personal life to the healthy upkeep of our community, from structural to social issues.

I’d like to thank you and Paul for the consideration to be a Whisperwood Board Member.

  • REHJ HOEFFNER
Hi!  My name is Rehj Hoeffner. As a long-time property owner and community advocate, I’m excited to express my interest in joining the Whisperwood Homeowners Association Board. With over 20 years of direct investment in this community and a strong background in governance, I bring the experience and dedication needed to help drive the continued success of our neighborhood.

I own seven properties within Whisperwood, and my commitment to this community runs deep. Over the past two decades, I’ve actively participated in its growth, and I’m passionate about ensuring it remains a vibrant and desirable place to live. My roots here are strong—at one point, my entire family lived on N. Troy Ave.  My son and daughter were my neighbors, and my mother lived just two doors down. My husband and I have loved and invested in this neighborhood for years, and that won’t change!

Professionally, I’ve worn many hats. From my early days interning at a local CPA firm to becoming Finance Director for a major Caterpillar supplier in Lubbock, I’ve honed a deep understanding of financial management. Later, as HR Director for Valmont Industries, I gained critical skills in leadership and operations. After some time raising my family and running a successful home based business, I returned to school for a BA in Digital Communications and Graphic Design—a passion that complements my business experience. For the past several years, I’ve managed properties within Whisperwood, blending my professional expertise with a good understanding of our local community.

My experience as a school board member in Roswell, New Mexico, has equipped me with the governance, budgeting, and community engagement skills needed to be an effective HOA board member. I know how to navigate complex issues, listen to diverse voices, and make decisions that balance both short-term needs and long-term growth.

If selected for the HOA board, I will focus on transparencyopen communication, and ensuring that all residents have a voice. My priorities include enhancing our community amenities and managing resources wisely to keep Whisperwood financially stable and thriving.

Let’s keep Whisperwood moving forward together. I’m ready to contribute, listen, and help shape the future of our wonderful neighborhood! Thank you for your consideration,
    Rehj Hoeffner

  • MARNEE BOLEN

    Good afternoon –

Please accept the following as my application for a Whisperwood HOA Board or Member-at-Large position.

Hi neighbors. My name is Marnee Gamble Bolen and while I have only lived in the neighborhood for 3 years, my family owned the home I currently live in for the prior 10 years. When I moved back to Lubbock from Austin in 2021, my first choice was to move to Whisperwood. Ironically, I moved twice in 2021 – into a rental at the end of my block and then three months later, into my current home 5 houses down.

I would like to be considered for a board or member-at-large position on the Whisperwood HOA Board. I believe that my education and experience provide a strong foundation for consideration. I received my BBA, with a concentration in Marketing, from McMurry University in 1990. Since then I have worked for a professional football team as a marketing assistant, Texas House of Representatives as a Sergent and receptionist for the Speaker of the House Gib Lewis, the second largest wholesale food distributor – US Foodservice – as marketing assistant and food show coordinator, an environmental engineering firm – Signature Science, LLC – as HR manager and project manager managing multi-million dollar governmental contracts, and for the last 20 years I have been a paralegal. In 2016 I became board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and am currently the District 7 Director for the Paralegal Division Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas. I specialize in high-end divorces and the division of complex, multi-million dollar estates.

As a fourth-generation Lubbockite, my roots in Lubbock run deep! My great-grandfather, grandfather and father owned Gamble Oil until my grandfather passed away in the mid-1990’s. My mother was a successful businesswomen and philanthropist. In addition to the oil business, my father also owned several successful nightclubs. Growing up in Lubbock, I watched our beautiful little neighborhood grow from a cotton field into what it is today and love my home, my neighbors and our neighborhood.

I served on the Pool Committee this summer and learned so much about the required maintenance and costs associated with running a pool, and took great pride in keeping it clean and accessible to Whisperwood residents. There were some hiccups (please note that the Board mandated the Release, not the Committee, but the Committee was required to facilitate the signing of the release), but we are on a good trajectory and I would like to see residents continue to benefit from the repairs and improvements going into next season.

I believe that my education, professional experience, and dedication to our neighborhood make me a strong candidate for a board or member-at-large position. If selected, I will focus on representing the homeowners’ voices and be a conservative fiduciary of HOA member funds. There is work to be done, both in the management of our Board and the pending repairs and continued management of our only asset – our pool – and I look forward to working diligently with transparency for a successful outcome of both.

    Thank you!
    Marnee

  • BRYAN FOLEY
Hello, I’m Bryan Foley and would like to nominate myself for a board position.

After serving in the military, being from Littlefield, I chose to move to Lubbock in 1999. Driving by Whisperwood frequently, I always had an interest in living in the Whisperwood neighborhood. The long boulevard filled with trees and greenery looked picturesque. At the end of the boulevard stood a club-like pool and tennis courts. The draw from this view led us to move our family to Whisperwood in 2021.

As members of this community, my wife and I began attending meetings and meeting neighbors. Through these connections, we began hearing similar concerns from the community. To address our community’s concerns, we involved ourselves in improving communications, pool relations, community involvement and promoting fairness in addressing issues and governance. We are a community, and everyone matters.

As the President of the Pool Committee, I assisted in extended pool hours and presented the necessity for the upcoming renovations. As a Member of the Neighborhood Committee, I have encouraged community engagement. And, as an Admin for the neighborhood’s Facebook page, I have helped improve communication. I have actively put in the personal time and work into our community when it was needed.

My military experience allowed me to travel the world where I was exposed to diverse people and their cultures. This allowed me the uncommon opportunity to develop communication skills and a broader sense of understanding for other’s unique points of view. I pride myself on being able to view situations with neutrality and an unbiased, fair understanding.

I received Bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Business Economics from Texas Tech University and have worked in business analytics for 15 years. My concentrations are in statistical reporting, contract review, revenue and expense analytics, and budgeting. I prepare financial proformas for large equipment purchases and the expansion (or reduction) of service lines such as Covenant’s second robotic surgical system (Da Vinci), the opening of Covenant’s Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (the first unit between Denver and Forth Worth) and the Lubbock Heart Hospital’s robotic knee replacement system. I’ve also prepared detailed budgets for these health systems, including each individual business, service line, department and general ledger line, for a decade. My background with contract review has helped tremendously with navigating our own community’s by-laws and applicable state law.

My experience and dedication to the community would be advantageous to the Whisperwood HOA board. My goals are to renovate and improve the HOA recreational facilities, improve transparency and communication, promote open dialogue and discussion, ensure fair and reasonable policy, and maintain a financially stable organization. Without being a board member, I feel like I’ve made positive changes. I can only hope that being a board member will allow me a greater opportunity to serve this community on a grander scale.

  • SANTIAGO RAMIREZ
My name is Santiago Ramirez, and as a representative of new young families in the neighborhood I would love to submit this request to be considered to the Whisperwood HOA Board.

Graduating from Texas Tech University with my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2015, I moved back home to Dallas to find work!  As a direct reflection of my skills, I was recruited from my first place of employment to help establish a Renewable Energy Division within this new company.  Within this new role as a Project Manager, I collaborate with contractors and developers alike to ensure engineering plans for large-scale solar and wind farms meet local municipality approvals, within budget and in a timely manner.

In 2018, I relocated to Lubbock from Dallas, temporarily in a different neighborhood until we found our new home.  Drawn by the aesthetics and rich history of the Whisperwood neighborhood we decided to call this neighborhood home. After moving in February 2020, I actively engaged with neighbors during the annual meeting, it was evident that there was a lack of communication between the HOA board and its members. Taking initiative, I proposed solutions to enhance connectivity and transparency, including the creation of a Facebook page and a Neighborhood Committee focused on organizing social events, and ultimately a Pool Committee to help manage the operations of the pool.

As an active volunteer in various neighborhood initiatives, I’ve shown my commitment to service and collaboration providing the transparency and the voice many members have requested.  Moving forward I’d like to work directly with fellow board members to ensure we’re transparent about the board happenings, and clear about funds and how they’re allocated based on the community’s input.

I know I would be a positive addition to the Whisperwood board and believe that young families should have a voice in community leadership, and I’m dedicated to guiding the Whisperwood neighborhood towards a positive future.

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Santiago Ramirez

  • ROBERT GUERRERO
I would like to submit my name as a candidate for the position of Vice President for the Whisperwood HOA board that is currently open.  I believe I could contribute to the current administration in helping maintain polices and procedures to keep Whisperwood on a positive road for the years to come.

I retired after 35 years in the field of education, 13 of those years were teaching and coaching, and 22 years of administrative experience.  I have served as an assistant principal of junior high and high schools, principal of high school, junior high school and elementary school.  These opportunities have given me a wide range of experience at all levels and provided me many challenges in all aspects of education and the programs afforded to students.  It also allowed me to interact with students, teachers, parents, businesses, and even political figures.

Throughout my teaching and administrative career, I established a reputation as an extremely capable, effective school administrator.  I have consistently displayed qualities of initiative, conscientiousness, and professionalism.  As an administrator, I worked with budgets, hiring of personnel, evaluations, training, and worked with my superiors to make sure policies were adhered to by my staff.  I am hardworking and dedicated to whatever it takes to accomplish the goals set by what is put before me.

My wife and I have lived in Whisperwood for four years.  We have found it to a great neighborhood to live in. People are always waving as one drives by or if walking around the neighborhood.  We have attended several HOA meetings and like the atmosphere of the meetings as there is input, questions, and conversations that lead to the improvement of the HOA.  We have seen positive measures taken to help the neighborhood like the speed bumps to slow traffic down, the neighborhood planned activities, and guidance of the current HOA board.  I would like to keep these types things continue.

I appreciate the time and consideration of my application and I am available should you wish to discuss any questions you may have.

    Respectfully,
    Robert Guerrero

  • GERI IRVING

    Hello,

My name is Geri Irving and I am requesting that I be included in the nominees for the Board Positions posted on the ŴHOA website.

I have lived in Whisperwood for 6+ years now. When we were looking for a home to rent, we felt fortunate to find our present one on N. Utica Ave. We quickly realized we wanted to stay in Whisperwood and bought our rental house. We specifically bought here in Whisperwood because of the pool! Since my husband and I moved here, our daughter and son in law, as well as his parents and even one of our grown sons (and two of his adult sons) have moved to Lubbock, primarily into Whisperwood. We are invested in this neighborhood!

Any of you who know me know that I am passionate about the need for our Board to be fully open and above board in all its facets, as well as responsive to member needs.

In pursuit of this, I serve on the first ever volunteer Pool Committee whose main goal is to listen to the requests of our residents and to do our very best to accommodate requests and to listen to suggestions for future years.

As Lead Instructor for the NNMC HEP Program, I was responsible for assisting in writing a multi million dollar federal education grant as well as fullfilling all the requirements therein. I take financial accountability very seriously. I’m committed to financial responsibility for the WHOA and will advocate for WHOA finances to be audited regularly and to share clear, detailed financial reports with residents so we can have confidence our interests are being represented.
